Kim Possible Premieres

Disney Channel will premiere the original animated comedy/action series KIM POSSIBLE on Friday, June 7, 2002, with three back-to-back half-hour episodes airing from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Following its debut, a new episode will air each Friday night at 6:30 pm. In the series, high school student Kim Possible becomes an unwitting superhero when she creates a Website proclaiming, "I can do anything." She was actually hoping for babysitting and lawn mowing gigs, instead, e-mails pleading for help arrive from across the globe. Along with her pal Ron Stoppable, his pet naked mole-rat Rufus and Webmaster Wade, Kim defeats the bad guys but still has to deal with everyday teen life. The voice cast features Christy Carlson Romano (EVEN STEVENS) as Kim Possible, Will Friedle (BOY MEETS WORLD) as Ron Stoppable, along with THE SIMPSONS' Nancy Cartwright as Rufus the naked mole rat and John DiMaggio (FUTURAMA) as Kims chief nemesis, Dr. Drakken. Series creators and executive producers Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle previously helmed the TV series' BUZZ LIGHTYEAR OF STAR COMMAND and HERCULES. KIM POSSIBLE executive producer/director Chris Bailey was animation supervisor on Disney's live-action films INSPECTOR GADGET and MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. He also directed the 1995 Academy Award-nominated animated short RUNAWAY BRAIN and has worked as an animator on several Walt Disney films, including THE LION KING and THE LITTLE MERMAID.
