Press Release from Kidscreen Summit

October 26, 2011: Tied in with Kidscreen Summit 2012 (February 7-10, NY), Kidscreen is expanding the focus of its iKids companion event to more fully explore the intersection of mobile content, social media and web entertainment in the kids space.

iKids will take place at the New York Hilton from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Monday, February 6, featuring conference tracks focusing on Apps & Mobile and Online & Social Media, as well as candid Digital Download presentations from leading kids brand owners, app & web developers and tech innovators looking for partners.

Because understanding consumer behavior is critical to success in this fast-changing part of the kids entertainment business, one highlight already planned for the event stem from the research side of the sector.

Gary Pope, Founder of Kids Industries in London, is currently working on the qualitative phase of a large-scale study looking at how kids and families in the US and UK are engaging with apps. He’ll share these latest findings at iKids 2012, building on his “Understanding the Global App-etite” presentation, which was a huge hit at Kidscreen’s app-centric iKids West event this past June.

“We’re really excited to be exploring the whole digital ecosystem with our iKids event next year,” says Kidscreen VP & Publisher Jocelyn Christie. “Mobile, social media and web content make up a substantial and growing part of kids entertainment culture all over the world, and it’s essential that we keep a vigilant eye on the trends, landscape shifts and business models that are shaping success in this sector.”

The full conference program will be available soon at http://summit.kidscreen.com/2012/ikids.html.

Last year, Kidscreen Summit welcomed nearly 1,600 attendees, representing 850+ companies from 42 countries around the world. And more than 350 kids TV buyers and investors were at the event looking for new content and partners.
