International children’s channel KidsCo partners with science fiction and fantasy-based channel Syfy to launch Syfy Kids, a new sci-fi genre programming block dedicated to kids.
LONDON -- International children’s channel KidsCo has partnered with NBCUniversal’s science fiction and fantasy-based channel, Syfy, to launch Syfy Kids, a new sci-fi genre programming block dedicated to kids ages six to 10.
Set to launch in Q2 2013 and appearing exclusively on KidsCo, the fully-dubbed block will feature imagination-based content from KidsCo’s joint venture owners, NBCUniversal and Corus Entertainment, as well as original programming and third-party acquisitions.
“Following KidsCo’s refresh earlier this year, we are now able to innovate to harness the power of our partners and shareholders,” says Hendrik McDermott, MD of KidsCo. “Collaborating with NBCUniversal and Corus Entertainment to bring imagination-based content via the well-known and respected Syfy brand really demonstrates our dedication to delivering the strongest channel to our affiliates, whilst differentiating ourselves from our competitors.”
Dave Howe, President, Syfy and Chiller, adds: “We’re thrilled to see a Syfy Kids block launching on KidsCo. This venture extends the Syfy brand to a whole new generation of younger viewers and establishes a strong global partner as we seek to develop an outlet for Syfy Kids content domestically.”
The new partnership comes on the heels of KidsCo launching a redesigned on-air look, a new website and new kids content for 2013 including the original series ZuZu and the Supernuffs.
