Kids Vet Laughton to Head Kids Programming for Celador Int’l

Cathy Laughton joins London-based Celador Intl in February 2005 as head of kids programming to champion of its new kids division (Celador International Kids) and will be responsible for sales of the companys portfolio of childrens programming as well as the development of new program acquisitions.

Laughton has 15 years experience in television distribution, which includes stints with Nelvana Enterprises (U.K.) Ltd, Jim Henson Co. and HIT Entertainment Plc.

For the last two years, she has been working for Laughton Media Assoc. providing consultancy and representation services for leading companies in the animation and childrens sector. Clients included Entertainment Rights, Varga and VCI.

From 1999 to 2002, she was md at Nelvana Enterprises, responsible for both U.K. and multi-territory sales, assessment of all creative proposals and submissions to the global development group. At the time of her departure from the company, she had initiated two co-productions and negotiated commissions, which resulted in every childrens broadcaster in the U.K. carrying Nelvana programming.

As director of international television distribution at Jim Henson Co., Laughton helped to establish a new distribution division and successfully negotiated the entire Henson catalog to a number of territories.

Cathys extensive knowledge of childrens programming combined with her creative development skills and worldwide distribution experience make her the perfect choice for Celador Intls new Kids division, commented Adrian Woolfe, Celadors md, to whom Laughton reports. Im delighted to have her on board and am confident that under her management the new division will flourish to become a key name in childrens program distribution.
