Katie Holmes Isn't Afraid of the Dark

Katie Holmes has signed on to star in the remake of the 1973 TV movie DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, which has been scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins, according to VARIETY. Del Toro and Mark Johnson will produce with comic artist Troy Nixey in the director's chair.

The original ABC production followed a young girl, her father and his girlfriend as they are haunted by devilish creatures in their home.

Del Toro tapped Nixey to direct after seeing the artists short film LATCHKEY'S LAMENT, which contain the same tone he felt would be right for DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK.

Nixey, a comicbook artist, is making his feature directing debut. Del Toro sparked to "Latchkey's Lament," a Nixey-directed short that captured the tone del Toro wanted for "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark."
