TBS has signed a deal with David Spade to turn his live-action feature, JOE DIRT, into an animated series, reports VARIETY. Sony Pictures TV and Happy Madison Prods. are producing.

Spade, Fred Wolf (who co-wrote the feature with Spade) and Donick Carey will adapt the story of the mullet-sporting loser from the film. The threesome will exec produce with Happy Madison's Doug Robinson.

TBS is eager to have new animation to pair with FAMILY GUY reruns. Two other projects are already in development. NEIGHBORS FROM HELL from writer Pam Brady, Fox and DreamWorks Animation follows an all-American family that moves from Hell into the suburbs. Lionsgate TV and THE COLBERT REPORT writer Glen Eichler are creating GOOD AND EVIL about twins who couldn't be more different.
