Jerome Solomon Joins Cogswell College

17-Year Hollywood Veteran and ACM SIGGRAPH National Committee member joins Cogswell College’s Digital Arts & Animation department as an Assistant Professor in Game & Entertainment Design.

SUNNYVALE, CA – Cogswell College announced the hiring of Jerome Solomon as Assistant Professor in the Digital Arts & Animation department. In his new role, Professor Solomon will teach courses in gaming and animation as well as advise on student-based projects and initiatives.

“Cogswell is uniquely positioned to offer game development students a real-world educational experience,” said Professor Solomon. “With a student body that includes computer engineering, audio engineering and digital arts majors, Cogswell is one of the few schools with the right mixture of students to actually make games.”

Professor Solomon is a 17-year film and video game industry veteran whose film credits include Avatar, Shrek 2, Madagascar and the Oscar-winning Babe. His AAA game title credits include Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, The Godfather Game and Tiger Woods 07. He has worked at Industrial Light and Magic, DreamWorks Animation, Electronic Arts and Rhythm & Hues Studios.

Professor Solomon most recently taught at the Art Institute in Sunnyvale, California where he served as the Academic Department Director of Game Art, Animation and Visual Effects. Additionally, Solomon sits on the National Committee for ACM SIGGRAPH.

SIGGRAPH is the world’s premier event on computer graphics and interactive techniques that includes representation from an international selection of large and small studios. Solomon served as SIGGRAPH Productions Sessions Chair in 2012 and 2013, and co-chaired the Special Sessions and Panels in 2009. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Graphics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering from UCLA.
