Jay Leno Gets Stoned By Jacobsrahi and Zoic Visual Effects

THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO recently revealed a striking new show open and logo created by brand strategic entertainment salon jacobsrahi in collaboration with visual effects team Zoic Studios. Together they took real scenes of American life and transformed Leno and the people into murals on brickwalls with the texture and seams visible through the real life image of the TONIGHT SHOW host and everyday Americans.

TONIGHT SHOW producer Larry Goitia was introduced to jacobsrahi via the companys work on CBSs THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG KILBORN open, created in 2002. Goitia brought jacobsrahi in to present concepts for an innovative new look that builds on THE TONIGHT SHOW with Jay Lenos brand equity.

The concept, AMERICAS COMEDIAN, is a seamless shot that takes the viewer around the country and into the lives of people in various environments with the surprising twist that transforms each vignette into a painted mural. Interior and exterior scenes flow into one another in this continuous pullback that creates a window to the world of American life.

For Zoic, the project involved tons of compositing work executed by composite supervisor Chris Jones on inferno, and flame artist Steve Meyer, in order to create the illusion of live-action transforming into a painted mural. The effects team worked for more than 200 hours on the Open. Director John Scheer heralds from an effects background and worked closely with Zoic on the project, as did creative directors Scott Jacobs and Sandep Rahi from jacobsrahi. Carla Attanasio produced for Zoic with Steve Schofield as exec producer. Cory Strassburg was in independent CG artist on Americas Comedian.

Jacobs and Rahi founded Santa Monica, California-based jacobsrahi (www.jacobsrahi.com), in 2001 as brand-strategic creative boutique, specializing in on-air work the entertainment industry.

Launched in 2002 by exec producer Steve Schofield, and creative directors ChrisJones and Loni Peristere in Los Angeles, Zoic Studios has quickly become a leader in visual effects and CG animation in the commercials, music videos, feature film and episodic television arenas.
