Annecy award-winner and leading Oscar contender THE MYSTERIOUS GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORATIONS OF JASPER MORELLO has won director Anthony Lucas the Digital Pictures AFI Award for Best Short Animation at the Australian Film Institute (AFI) awards. The event handed out its honors at a star-studded event on Nov. 26, 2005 in Melbourne.
In addition, the partly-animated LOOK BOTH WAYS won the L'Oreal Paris AFI Award for Best Film at the Australian Film Institute (AFI) awards Saturday night. Animation shorts director Sarah Watt made her feature film debut with the film, which was produced by Hibiscus Films and Dendy Films. The film is about people dealing with unexpected events finding their lives intersecting over a scorching hot weekend.
Watt also won awards for best direction and best screenplay. Anthony Hayes won best supporting actor for his live-action role in the film as Andy.
