As reported on Variety, Jamie Foxx and 20th Century Fox Animation will team up on Welcome to the Jungle, based on an original pitch from Foxx and writer Malcolm Spellman.
Foxx is set to star as well as produce and write original music for the film. Jamie Rucker King, Foxx’s manager and partner in FoxxKing Entertainment, will co-produce. Spellman will write the script, about which he hinted “Life is a jungle and welcome to it.”
Foxx, who recently appeared in Law Abiding Citizen, stars in the upcoming Warner Bros. release Due Date. Spellmans wrote Family Wedding for Fox Searchlight, which was released this past March 12. Fox and Ice Age franchise partner Blue Sky Studios will release their next film, the 3D animated film Rio, on April 8, 2011.
