Jam Media’s ‘Little Roy’ Goes on European Trip

Key broadcasters throughout Europe and the U.K. pick up new live action/animated hybrid series.

DUBLIN -- Creative production, distribution and licensing company JAM Media has secured several major broadcast agreements for its brand-new hybrid live action/animated series Little Roy. NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland) and VRT in Belgium have all pre-bought the show since MIPCOM, which follows the earlier pickup by ABC in Australia.

Jointly commissioned by Controller of CBeebies, Kay Benbow, and Controller of CBBC, Cheryl Taylor, Little Roy  will air on both channels in the U.K. The Irish Film board & Northern Ireland Screen have supported the show since inception with development and now continues with support through production funding.

Little Roy follows the everyday adventures of five-year-old Roy O’Brien, as his uses his cartoon abilities and enthusiasm to cause some form of mayhem. To solve his real life quandary, Little Roy escapes into his imagination. In a full cartoon sequence, he takes on the persona of “Wonder Roy,” and with his sidekick, Finn, he plays out his predicament of the day, finds a solution and applies it to the real world. Although it doesn’t always go according to plan!

“The response to Little Roy since its debut at MIPCOM has been incredible, highlighting the show’s global appeal,” said John Reynolds, Chief Commercial Officer at JAM Media. “We are excited that so many key broadcasters have already committed to the show and look forward to announcing further deals shortly.”
