JAKKS Pacific Warms Up To Ice Age

JAKKS Pacific Inc. has signed a master toy licensing agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising for the studio's 2002 animated epic ICE AGE. Capitalizing on the film's three main characters -- an acerbic woolly mammoth named Manfred (voiced by Ray Romano), an un-socialized giant sloth named Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo), and a scheming saber-toothed tiger named Diego (voiced by Denis Leary) -- JAKKS Pacific's Flying Colors division will create a full line of toys and merchandise for the digitally animated feature. Included in the Flying Colors line will be plush toys, action figures and playsets, activity kits and lunch boxes. We're thrilled to have leading entertainment toy licensee JAKKS Pacific on board for ICE AGE, said Peter Byrne, executive vice president of Fox Licensing & Merchandising. "We have every confidence that this film and its merchandise will be a huge family hit." Slated for release in the spring of 2002, ICE AGE is a collaborative effort between Academy Award-winning director Chris Wedge and Blue Sky Studios, and Twentieth Century Fox.
