Italy Double Dips Cartoon Channel Flavors From Turner

Italy will double its cartoon TV fun when boomerang launches on July 1, 2003 on sky italia. building on the success of its parent channel, cartoon network Italy, Boomerang will join the new sky italia line-up with a schedule of classics including TOM AND JERRY, YOGI BEAR, THE FLINTSTONES, POPEYE and THE PINK PANTHER.

This is just the latest milestone for Boomerang which, since launching less than three years ago, has seen its U.K. ratings overtake more established channels like the Disney Channel and Fox Kids amongst kids 4-15. Turner's group of channels now takes a 29.4% share compared to the BBC kids channels with 21%, Viacom kids channels with 24.9% and the Disney group's 16.5%. It is available on digital satellite and cable in the U.K. and operated by Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited, an AOL Time Warner Company. Boomerang launched on the TPS platform in France in April.
