Israeli Animator Doc Comes to L.A.

Recent winner of the Israeli Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary, 39 POUNDS OF LOVE, about an Israeli 3D animator who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy, will play in Los Angeles at the Nuart Theater in Santa Monica until Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005.

The film follows Ami Ankilewitz, who only weighs 39 pounds and can only move one finger on his left hand, as he leaves the woman he loves, returns to the U.S. to meet the doctor who believed he wouldn't live past 6 years of age, confronts a major conflict from his past and attempts his lifelong dream of riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Throughout the film, examples of Ankilewitz's animation are shown. The film was directed by Dani Menkin.
