Irish Animation Stamps Go High-Tech

QR code-enabled stamp set features four internationally acclaimed animated properties from Ireland: Jam Media’s ‘Roy,’ Brown Bag Films’ ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins,’ Cartoon Saloon’s ‘The Secret of Kells’ and Geronimo Productions’ ‘Nelly & Nora.’

In partnership with Animation Ireland, Irish national postal operator An Post has launched an augmented reality-based, four-stamp set honoring the country’s successful animation industry, Kidscreen reports.

Each 68c stamp can be scanned by a smartphone using either the Android or iOS version of the QR code-scanning app CEE App to unlock an exclusive film featuring four internationally acclaimed animated properties from Ireland -- Jam Media’s Roy, Brown Bag Films’ Give Up Yer Aul Sins, Cartoon Saloon’s The Secret of Kells and Geronimo Productions’ Nelly & Nora -- along with other animated works.

The stamp set also includes a special first-day cover and a collector’s item booklet containing four sets of the stamps, as well as additional illustrations and information.

Crafted by leading Irish design company Vermillion Design, the entire collection is available at main post offices in Ireland, from the Stamp Shop in Dublin’s general post office and online at www.irishstanps.ie.
