IRIDAS Brings RealTime RAW 2.0 To NVISION 08

IRIDAS, the world leader in RAW playback technologies, is bringing RealTime RAW 2.0 to the crowds at the San Jose Convention Center for NVISION 08 this week. On August 26 and 27 visitors to the PNY booth (200/305) can see the live playback of RAW content with pristine image quality using NVIDIA PNY graphics to provide de-Bayering in real-time. The technology means that filmmakers now have immediate access to their footage straight from the camera.

IRIDAS is the only developer offering universal support for all available digital cinema RAW camera formats. In addition to RAW playback, creative looks can be saved as metadata and used for graded playback right on the set.

"I have to say that SpeedGrade's new RAW support is huge for us at DALSA, and it's huge for filmmakers, in that it empowers them to look at the best digital imaging possible on set," said Rob Hummel, president of DALSA Digital Cinema. "It makes the process so easy it's scary. Not only can a cinematographer view shots immediately without rendering, but staying in RAW means that each 4K frame is just 16 MB [instead of 48 MB]. Combining this with the ability to apply creative looks non-destructively makes for a super-efficient workflow."

"We are reaching the tipping-point with digital cinema," said IRIDAS CEO Lin Kayser. "Filmmakers are ready to use the new cameras, but they need a simple and reliable solution for working with their content after it is shot. RealTime RAW gives them that."

RealTime RAW 2.0 is available with all 2008 versions of FrameCycler and SpeedGrade. IRIDAS at PNY booth (200/305) at NVISION 08, August 26 and 27, 2008 at the San Jose Convention Center.
