London, UK -- Planet Nemo announced that it has secured a number of broadcast agreements for its children’s television series, Groove High including Disney Channels EMEA.
Disney Channels EMEA has commissioned the 26 x 30 minutes hybrid comedy series for broadcast in the UK, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, India, Portugal and Spain. Groove High combines 2D animation with live-action segments and is targeted at children aged 6-14. Co-produced with Telegael and Nexus, the series premiered in France in September 2012 and will launch in the UK in November 2012, with other territories set to debut the series from 2013.
Planet Nemo has also secured broadcast agreements with a number of leading platforms including Canal Plus (Poland), Nickelodeon (Benelux/Scandinavia), Noga (Israel), PBS Malta, TG4 (Ireland), Televisa (Latin America), YLE (Finland), E-Vision (Dubai) and French language channel TV5 Monde.
Groove High follows teens Zoe and Tom who are touring with their rock band but love to look back on their High School years with many fond memories. At Groove High, Zoe and Tom’s friendships, loyalties and skills will be put to the test. Whether they are falling in love or falling off their bunks, these teens are about to learn that sometimes it’s what happens off stage that affects us for the rest of our lives.
Commenting on the agreement Frédéric Puech, President, Planet Nemo said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Disney on this exciting new series and are extremely pleased to have secured agreements with leading broadcast platforms in such key territories. Groove High is sure to resonate with children everywhere as they recognise the funny scenarios and shared experiences which take place in schools all over the world.”
Patricia Hidalgo, Vice President, Content and Programming Strategy, The Walt Disney Company EMEA comments: “We are delighted to welcome Groove High to the Disney Channel fold. This acquisition underscores our ongoing commitment to provide global programming with the very best creative production companies from markets across Europe. The series combines a unique mix of animation, live-action comedy and music, which perfectly complements our own highly successful quality content including the hugely popular series Phineas and Ferb and Austin & Ally.”
