Gilberto Sanchez, the 49-year-old man who uploaded a work print of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE to Megaupload.com, has been sentence to one year in federal prison, reports Deadline.com. In addition to jail time, U.S. District Judge Margaret M. Morrow gave Sanchez one year of supervised release and various restrictions to his computer use.

Sanchez had a previous conviction for pirating films and had been uploading films to the Internet for five years prior to this offense. In March, he pled guilty to uploading WOLVERINE to the Web one month before the film's theatrical release. He then posted links to the upload on two websites directing users to the pirated 20th Century Fox film. Fox was able to get the work print removed within 24 hours, but it had been viewed millions of times within that one day.
