Samurai! Daycare, a new animated series from Pipsqueak Films, debuted on August 9 on Smosh’s Shut Up! Cartoons channel on YouTube, and in less than a week has generated over 250,000 views.

Samurai! Daycare was created by Disney veteran and Emmy nominee Mike Blum (The Adventures of Baxter and McGuire, The Zit), and features a deluded, sword-wielding daycare instructor who “teaches” preschoolers the ways of the samurai.

Produced by Pipsqueak Films, Smosh, and Alloy Digital, the Flash-animated series – which boasts hand-painted backgrounds --  stars Matthew Lillard (The Descendants, Scooby Doo), Bobby Lee (MAD TV, Animal Practice), and Cathy Shim (MAD TV, Oishi High School Battle). It’s also billed as first animated show created for the web to be produced under the auspices of the WGA.

New episodes will premiere Thursdays at noon (PST) for 10 consecutive weeks.

Shut Up! Cartoons -- part of YouTube’s 100 premium channel initiative -- is nearing 50 million views and has passed 600K subscribers in just three months since its launch on April 30.  In its first week, Shut Up! Cartoons was #1 for subscriber gains and continues to rank Top 3 for weekly views among the original channels, according to current VidstatsX.  The channel has quickly catapulted to #205 in the full YouTube universe.
