Zynga, the producer of FARMVILLE and many other Facebook games, has bought Newtoy, a developer of iPhones, iPods and iPads games, according The Hollywood Reporter. Newtoy is best known for WORDS WITH FRIENDS and CHESS WITH FRIENDS. The Texas-based company will be renamed Zynga With Friends Studio. Details of the acquisition were not released.

Paul and David Bettner founded Newtoy in 2008. They will remain at the new company as vp/gm and studio director, respectively. Newtoy's COO Michael Chow will take the role of director of operations.
