Disney Interactive has enlisted Into Networks’ PlayNow.com to create the Disney Interactive Channel for Disney-themed games on the Net. The new channel will be like Sony’s Station, which features on-line versions of JEOPARDY and WHEEL OF FORTUNE. Into Networks will produce 12 titles for Disney that will be available on a pay-for-play basis through high-speed Internet services available from cable set-top box providers. Games will be based on Disney’s feature films THE LION KING, TOY STORY and TARZAN. Other games will include DISNEY’S MAGIC ART STUDIO and PRINCESS FASHION BOUTIQUE. So far, no prices have been set for the use of the games. Currently, Into Networks operates 100 channels of entertainment and educational games over cable set-top boxes for US$9.99 a month from game makers like GT Interactive, Interplay and Scientific Learning.
