Calon Makes First Sale to Mobile Media
Calon has sold BIG TATTIE, its first animated series for mobile media, to leading mobile distributor, Player X. Additionally, S4C has commissioned Calon to make 20 shorts of a BIG TATTIE for its Rugby World Cup coverage.
The BIG TATTIE series of 35x30-second downloads features humorous keep fit tips for couch potatoes designed to appeal to today’s youth. It will be available from Player X through its made-for-mobile GeekTV channel. BIG TATTIE will also appear as comic inserts during the S4C TV coverage of the Rugby World Cup in September and October. The 20x30-second brand new episodes will be broadcast and appear online, reflecting the games as the tournament progresses.
Player X has a strong presence in the mobile games, TV and video market with partnerships, including Universal Mobile Ent., SkyTV, EMI Music and many others. The company operates in all five continents, bringing some of the biggest entertainment brands to a potential audience of 1.8 billion people via 140 direct distribution channels.

Contact between Calon (Wales’ largest independent animation company) and Player X was initiated at PACT’s Rights Lab and followed up at the MIP-TV market in Cannes.
