Indiana Jones And The Crystal Clear Box Office Victory

Paramount's INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL was far and away the box office winner over Memorial Day Weekend, earning $126 million (estimated) over four days. The vfx for the fourth installment in the Indy franchise were done by ILM, Gentle Giant Studios and Stan Winston Studio.

INDY 4 is now second-best in Memorial Day openings; last year's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END is number one with $139.8M. According to VARIETY, INDY 4's worldwide box office stands at $311.1 million.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN (Disney, vfx by Moving Picture Company, Framestore CFC, Baseblack, Escape Studios, Giant Studios, Rising Sun Pictures, ScanlineVFX and Weta Digital) placed second with $28.6M and $96.7M over two weeks.

Paramount's IRON MAN dropped to third with an additional $25.65M and a four-week cume of $258M. The Robert Downey, Jr.-led film's vfx were by ILM, The Orphanage, The Embassy, Gentle Giant Studios, Lola Visual Effects, Pixel Liberation Front and Stan Winston Studio).

Comedy WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS made $11.15M for Fox for a three-week gross of $56.4M (vfx by Brainstorm Digital and Invisible Pictures) and fourth place.

Warner Bros.' SPEED RACER placed fifth with $5.2M and a three-week gross of $37.4M. VFX by BUF, CIS Hollywood, CafeFX, Digital Domain, Evil Eye Pictures, Gentle Giant Studios, Halon Ent., ILM, Lola Visual Effects, Rainmaker, Rising Sun Pictures and Sony Imageworks.

BABY MAMA (Universal) stayed in sixth place, earning $4.2M and just more than $53 million in five weeks.

MADE OF HONOR also did about $4.2M for a cume of $39.9M in four weeks for Sony (vfx by Lola Visual Effects and Moving Picture Company).

Universal's FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL hung in there after the break up with $2.2M, eighth place and almost $59M in six weeks.

Ninth place went to HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY (New Line, vfx by Reality Check Studios) with $1.2 and about $36M in a five-week gross.

THE VISITOR (Overture Films, vfx by Janimation) was visited by enough moviegoers to place tenth with $917,000.
