ReThink VFX, ScanlineVFX, 3DRevolution, BarXseven, Christov Effects and Design, Comen VFX, Image Engine Design, Modus Fx, NeoReel, Proof, Rodeo FX, The Third Floor, Tippett Studio and XYZ-RGB provided vfx for the R-rated, 3-D, bloody actioner.

Despite being trashed by critics, Sony's JACK AND JILL premiered in second with $26 million. Atomic Fiction, Method Studios, Pixel Liberation Front and Wildfire Visual Effects provided the vfx for the Adam Sandler comedy.

After staying atop the box office for two weeks straight, DreamWorks Animation's PUSS IN BOOTS fell to third, bringing in $25.5 million. The SHREK spin-off has rescued $108.8 million to date.

Universal's TOWER HEIST smuggled out $13.2 million in fourth. With vfx from Gravity, Phosphene, Method Studios and Stella VFX, the Ben Stiller/Eddie Murphy comedy actioner has a cume of $43.9 million.

Warner Bros.' J. EDGAR debuted in fifth, arresting $11.5 million. Lola Visual Effects and Method Studios provided visual effects for the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic.

New Line's A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS inhaled $5.9 million in sixth place. With stop-motion animation from HOUSE Special and vfx from Ingenuity Engine, Behold 3D, Furious FX and Tyrrell FX & Rentals, the stoner holiday comedy has amassed $23.2 million thus far.

Fox's IN TIME lived on in seventh place, collecting another $4.15 million. With vfx from Luma Pictures, Soho VFX and Wildfire Visual Effects, the futuristic actioner has a cume of $30.7 million.

Paramount's PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 plummeted from fourth to eighth, scaring up an additional $3.63 million. With vfx from Almost Human, the haunted house tale has total receipts equaling $100.8 million.

Paramount's FOOTLOOSE twirled into ninth, earning $2.74 million. With vfx from Wildfire Visual Effects, the dance remake has a cume of $48.9 million.

Walt Disney/DreamWorks' REAL STEEL rounded out the top-ten fight card with $2 million. With vfx from Digital Domain, Giant Studios and Legacy Effects, the robot family film has taken in $81.7 million thus far.
