Press Release from Imira Ent.
Barcelona, 31 August 2010: Imira Entertainment, Spain’s leading production and distribution company specialising in youth programming, has brokered a deal with Spanish channel Canal Sur for two animated children’s shows, Planet Grabo and Corneil & Bernie, from Millimages. Canal Sur, part of Forta’s public broadcasting network, has acquired 26x13’ episodes of Planet Grabo aimed at 8-12 year olds, and 52x13’ episodes of Corneil & Bernie, aimed at 6-10 year olds.
In a separate deal Televisión de Canarias has acquired two teen TV movies from the Imira library: Scooter, Secret Agent and Wicked Science. Both 90’ movies are produced by Jonathan M. Shiff and ZDF Enterprises.
This Spanish news follows Imira’s recent sales deals with Forta channels ETB and TV Galicia in Spain, which renewed their commitment to a number of HIT Entertainment series. ETB renewed series one and two of Pingu, alongside a deal to acquire seasons three to six of the animated show, while TV Galicia renewed Pingu and Sheeep.
Christophe Goldberger, Head of Distribution and Marketing at Imira Entertainment said: “The Millimages and ZDF Enterprises libraries are consistently popular in Spain and we’re very pleased to sign these deals which extend our presence on Spanish broadcast platforms.” Imira Entertainment represents the rights to the Millimages and ZDF Enterprises TV catalogues in Spain, Portugal, Latin America and Hispanic US.
Planet Grabo features Grob Spuk, his wife Muka and their two children: Glem and Zana. Together they are a lovely little family of aliens who want to change their way of life and escape their big, overpopulated and polluted planet, to return to the natural way of life. Their prayers are answered when they become farmers on the small deserted asteroid named Grabo and grow ‘biortsch’, a kind of cucumber with amazing properties. They cope rather well for ex-city dwellers. Perhaps the Spuks have found more happiness than they could ever have imagined on Grabo, or is this just where the trouble begins…
Corneil & Bernie is about a talking dog and his dog-sitter Bernice Barges. Corneil is a young, refined and rather sophisticated pet dog. In fact, Corneil is a dog of exceptional intelligence, a genius some might say: he is fluent in several foreign languages, can skim read and count at the speed of light! Rather wisely, he has always taken particular care to never reveal any of these talents to anyone, especially not to his owners! Corneil has only one wish: to live the comfortable, quiet life of a pampered pooch. However, when his owners, John and Elizabeth take on Bernie as a dog-sitter, Corneil’s life is turned upside down.
Scooter, Secret Agent is just possibly the world's clumsiest kid. He's a magnet for disaster wherever he goes, but even though he's just a pizza delivery boy, Scooter knows he's destined for far greater things. What exactly? He's not sure. When he discovers a secret super-computer belonging to one of the world's greatest Secret Agents, Scooter starts to believe that maybe fate is taking a hand.
In Wicked Science, Toby Johnson is a regular easy-going student struggling with homework and girls. Elizabeth Hawke is the teacher’s pet. Nobody at school likes her and the only person she likes is Toby. One day they get hit by a ray – a unique magnetic pulse that changes everything. Suddenly, they’re both scientific geniuses!
