Press Release from Imira Entertainment

Barcelona, 19 March 2010: Imira Entertainment, Spain’s leading production and distribution company specialising in youth programming, has scored a number of sales of the Normaal Animation-produced animated ‘cow-medy’ TANGERINE & COW (78x7’) in advance of MIPTV 2010.

Z@PP, the public free TV channel in The Netherlands has snapped up the series, and in Spain, Cartoon Network has acquired pay TV rights, with TV Catalunya picking up Free TV rights for Catalunya. In further deals, Portugal’s RTP and Channel 5 in Lithuania have acquired the show, and Al Sayyar has picked up TV and home entertainment rights for the Middle East. Home entertainment and rights deals for licensing and merchandising have signed with Kids Plant in the Netherlands and Belgium, and with Pourquoi Pas in France.

Imira Entertainment and Normaal Animation have previously signed international deals with HBO Family in Asia, YLE Finland, Canal+ Poland, RTBF Belgium and TSR in Switzerland.

Christophe Goldberger, Head of Distribution and Marketing at Imira Entertainment said: “This is a truly unique series and very funny. Comedy shows are high up the wish-list for many buyers so Tangerine and COW is a perfect fit. These sales and second season commission by France Television underscore the popularity of the series.”

Imira represents worldwide television distribution and licensing and merchandising rights (except for French speaking Europe, Netherlands and Finland which are held by Normaal) to the series, which is aimed at kids aged 6-12 years. A second series has just been commissioned by France Television following the popularity of the first season on the channel.

The fast paced 2D series is a co-production between Normaal and France Television. It is based on the comic book Chico Mandarine, written by renowned author Jacques Azam and published by éditions Milan.

Take a normal urban and urbane family: a mother, a father, two children, one farm animal. Then take a closer look. This one has an absent father who could be an adventurer, a businessman, a secret agent or a struggling actor and a Nobel hopeful inventor mother. Their kids are a philosophical teen who takes life as it comes (normally horizontal) and a cute, 8-year old girl with the energy of 800,000 Energizer bunnies. Then there’s the pet cow. Who talks, obviously. And she’s got a lot to say. TANGERINE & COW is the ‘udderly’ crazy misadventures of the world’s wackiest family!
