IMAX Names Foster President, Filmed Entertainment

IMAX Corporation appointed veteran motion picture production and marketing executive Greg Foster to the newly created position of president, Filmed Entertainment, on Tuesday, March 27. Foster will work out of the company's Santa Monica, California office, and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's filmed entertainment activities including creative development, production and business affairs. He will also have a hands-on role in the marketing and distribution of the large-format motion pictures produced under the IMAX banner. Previously, Foster spent 15 years at MGM/UA, serving in different senior management posts including executive vice president of production and senior vice president of motion picture marketing and research. While at MGM/UA, Foster played a key role in the production and/or marketing of over 150 films, including A FISH CALLED WANDA, GET SHORTY, KING PIN, MOONSTRUCK, RAIN MAN, SPECIES, STIGMATA, THELMA AND LOUISE, UNTAMED HEART and several from the James Bond - 007 series. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the USC Graduate School of Cinema. In making the announcement, IMAX co-chairmen and co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler said, "Greg's commitment to the film medium, along with his proven track record as a senior studio executive and long- standing relationships with many of the entertainment industry's key players make him a great asset to our future endeavors."

As Karl Cohen reveals in "Imax May Be The Greatest Film Delivery System Ever Developed, But Will It Prosper?" the company needs a visionary like Foster as it wades through tough times. Learn more at:www.awn.com/mag/issue5.09/5.09pages/cohenimax.php3.
