Imagi Appoints Brett Feeney As VP of Production

Imagi Int'l Holdings Ltd. announced that computer graphics industry veteran, Brett Feeney, has joined Imagi as vp of production, based in Hong Kong. Feeney will be responsible for managing the company's animation production line and its 400+ artists, animators and technical staff.

Feeney comes to Imagi from Sydney-based Animal Logic, where his responsibilities as digital supervisor included managing the production line that delivered the 2007 Oscar winning Best Animated Picture, HAPPY FEET. During his ten years at Animal Logic, Feeney worked on films including MOULIN ROUGE, HERO and MATRIX RELOADED.

Feeney's arrival at Imagi coincides with the studio's release of its first major theatrical film, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, which is slated for release through Warner Bros. and The Weinstein Co. on more than 10,000 screens worldwide. Feeney's first assignment at Imagi will be to prepare the production lines for the company's next two films, based on the well-known superhero characters: GATCHAMAN and ASTRO BOY, scheduled for release in late 2008, and early 2009, respectively.

"The release of TMNT is a major milestone for Imagi," said Imagi founder/co-ceo, Francis Kao. "Imagi is the first Asian studio to develop, produce and own a globally-released CG animated feature film. Our next major milestone will be to upgrade our production capacity, so that we can start delivering a film every eight months. Brett Feeney will head that initiative."

"With TMNT, Imagi has introduced a new genre in CG animation," commented Feeney. "Imagi has made a flat-out action film with the look and feel of a high-end videogame and superhero characters that we haven't seen in animation before. I look forward to helping the company expand its production capacity, and to making more stupendous movies like TMNT."
