Imageworks Hires Three New Visual Effects Supervisors

Sony Pictures Imageworks is enhancing its visual effects department with the hire of three new visual effects supervisors: Mark Stetson, Kevin Mack and Richard Hoover. Mark Stetson began his career on STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, and has worked on such films as BLADE RUNNER, THE RIGHT STUFF, GHOSTBUSTERS and DIE HARD. He won an Oscar and a BAFTA Award in 2002 for visual effects on THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING. Kevin Mack won the Academy Award in 1999 for Best Visual Effects with WHAT DREAMS MAY COME and has supervised effects on DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, FIGHT CLUB and VANILLA SKY. Previously, Mack had an extensive career as a freelance visual effects artist creating matte paintings and miniatures for films ranging from AIRPLANE 2 to THE ABYSS. Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor Richard Hoover has been associated with Dream Quest Images and The Secret Lab for more than ten years prior to joining Imageworks. Most recently Hoover was visual effects supervisor on REIGN OF FIRE. Previous feature film credits include UNBREAKABLE, INSPECTOR GADGET and ARMAGEDDON. At Imageworks, Stetson is currently supervising the production of visual effects for CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE; Mack will supervise the production of visual effects for the comedy BIG FISH with director Tim Burton; and Hoover is currently in production on the horror flick DARKNESS FALLS. The three supervisors join Imageworks' existing roster of some of the industry's top names in visual effects including Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, Rob Legato, Jerome Chen, Scott Stokdyk, Jim Berney, Jay Redd, Carey Villegas, Sheena Duggal, Eric Armstrong and Anthony LaMolinara, to name a few.
