Image Metrics, a leading provider of facial animation technology for the entertainment industry, will lead a workshop and presentation on its award-winning facial animation technology Faceware 3.0 at BAF Game 2011.

Title: "Faceware 3.0: Creating an Immersive Gaming Experience through Facial Animation"

Workshop & Session:Image Metrics will host a 50-minute, hands-on workshop on Faceware 3.0, where attendees will deep-dive into various areas of facial animation including: character setup, posing a character using Auto-Pose and Shared-Pose, re-targeting, the Pruning Suite for animation curve clean-up.

Following the workshop, Image Metrics will present how facial animation technologies create and deliver an immersive experience for gamers. Attendees will learn about the different aspects in creating an enhanced gaming experience, including motion capture, facial expressions, etc. The presentation will also discuss an array of new tools for artists and producers tackling the most demanding of schedules and rigging processes.

Presenter: Jay Grenier has been working as a technical artist in the visual arts industry for almost 10 years, and has video game credits that include helping design and shape the facial animation and rigging pipelines for Crytek's Crysis 2, 2K Sports' NBA 2K10 / 2K11, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series, and the 2010 "Game of the Year," Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption.

BAF Game, a strand of Bradford Animation Festival, is organized by the National Media Museum in strong partnership with the University of Bradford and is dedicated to showcasing the very best and most up-to-date computer games technology and animation. Running over two days (Nov. 8-9), BAF Game will feature talks, discussions, screenings and workshops led by industry experts exploring the overlaps between the worlds of video games, animation and film.

The Bradford Animation Festival (Nov. 8-12) is the UK's longest running animation festival and features screen talks, retrospectives, workshops and a competition strand that recognizes the very best in new animation from around the world. Top talent attending BAF 2011 includes lead Pixar animator Andy Schmidt, Pixar and Disney layout and set designer Scott Caple ("The Incredibles," "Tarzan," "Mulan"), Fraser MacLean and Roy Naisbitt ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit"), Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated animator and director Barry Purves, as well as Geoff Dunbar, who will receive the Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award with a selective retrospective and a screening of his new film, "The Tap."
