Iconicles Interact with BBC

Create Media Ventures and Foothill Ent. announced that they have secured a BBC commission for their new children's animation series, ICONICLES.

Aimed at the 4-6 audience, ICONICLES features an enchanting troupe of iconic animal characters who spring to life in their own digital world, appearing in comedic animated stories, games and musical interludes. Akin to an animated variety show, ICONICLES has been developed both as a participatory television series (with the narrative stories linked by a live-action host) and as an interactive off- and online experience.

ICONICLES is being developed and produced by Create and Foothill in association with creators Eric Radomski and Lois Lee of California-based entertainment content company phuuz ent. and BBC Worldwide.

The 26x30 series, which has been commissioned by CBeebies creative director Michael Carrington, will be delivered in fall 2008.

Announcing the commission at MIPTV in Cannes, Create's md Vanessa Chapman said, "We have developed the original ICONICLES concept, with its bold and innovative designs, into an entertaining proposition for youngsters -- one which gives them a visual language to express themselves, and also encourages them to think creatively and critically about the world around them. The Iconicles' fun-filled adventures will inspire young audiences to create their own iconic characters and humorous stories."

Michael Carrington said, "ICONICLES will form a major element of my strategy to target 4-6 year olds, and, with its modern mix of animation and live action filming, will bring a whole new dimension to storytelling. It is a truly inventive concept."
