HypeFest Unveils Its 2003 Program

HypeFest, the new film and video festival that links independent ideas with commercial creativity, has announced its 2003 selection of short films, music videos, commercials and promos. Held at Cinespace in Hollywood, 6356 Hollywood Blvd., on July 26 and 27, HypeFest will present original short-subject work selected from hundreds of entries from around the world.

Organized by theme, the programs include romance, drama, intrigue, humor, imagination, Strange Bedfellows, Misdeeds and Misdemeanors, and Identity and Tongue in Cheek. Short film highlights of the two-day event include BMW Films' BEAT THE DEVIL, directed by Tony Scott and starring Gary Oldman and James Brown; Sundance 2003 Film Festival selection A NINJA PAYS HALF MY RENT, directed by Steven K. Tsuchida; Vance Malone's OCULARIST, Best Documentary SXSW 2003; and HOLD ON, by Glenn Ripps, starring Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Malcolm in the Middle).

HypeFest Passes are now available for purchase. The $50 pass provides entry to the festival on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, as well as to the closing night awards event and party. (Please note: passes do not guarantee seating. Pass holders must arrive at least 20 minutes prior to each screening.) There are only a limited number of passes available.
