'Hungry Shark' Chomps into Mobile Messaging

AT New Media announces details of a new agreement that will let fans send personalized "Hungry Shark" mobile messages.

AT New Media, licensing agent for smash-hit app brand Hungry Shark, has announced details of a new agreement that will let fans send personalised Hungry Shark mobile messages.

Hungry Shark has taken the digital world by storm – the hugely addictive game sees players taking the role of a shark as it attempts to become the biggest and baddest predator in the sea by eating up everything in its way! The app has built up a massive worldwide following with 35 million downloads recorded via iOS and Android over the last two years. New content is released regularly and the Hungry Shark pantheon includes Parts 1, 2 and 3 as well as a trilogy of all three games for iPad that can be hooked up to HDTV; Part 1 has been the number-one free app in 48 countries and Part 2 has hit the top spot for paid apps in 17 countries. Fans are currently waiting with baited breath for the impending release of new game Hungry Shark Evolution.

Mishme will be tapping into the game’s global fan base with its messaging service app for Android and iOS and its most recent Facebook app, all of which allows users to send friends and family animated mobile messages and tweets and Facebook posts that are brought to digital life by an avatar of the game’s Great White character….and a few other partially digested avatars. Launch will tie in with the release of Hungry Shark Evolution.

"The Mishme team has very much enjoyed getting its teeth into this brand," Steve Wright and J. Easterby-Wood from Mishme commented, “It’s a fun edgy brand with a whole lot of bite, and perfect for next generation communication technology apps.”

This latest deal adds to an existing agreement with Battle Ant for Hungry Shark plush, whilst AT New Media is also looking to work with partners across sectors such as collectibles, plush, and resin figures that are interested in creating products based on the game’s innovative and distinctive range of shark characters.

“We are delighted to have Mishme on board,” says Simon Kay of AT New Media, “mobile messaging is a fantastic use of the license and illustrates the strength of the Hungry Shark brand. It is a hugely addictive game that has built up a very strong fanbase in a short time and also features a range of fantastic characters, two attributes that make the property extremely attractive from a licensing point of view.”
