Hornet’s Marcondes Directs New 'Caveirão' Short

Hornet releases a new trailer for “Caveirão,” a short film directed by Guilherme Marcondes utilizing live-action, 2D animation and 3D VFX.

Hornet has released a new trailer for Caveirão, a short film directed by Brazilian-born filmmaker Guilherme Marcondes. Gui, as he is known, is the director of the 2006 animated short, Tyger, which has won over 30 international awards including two from the Clermont-Ferrant Festival.

Shot in São Paulo, Caveirão imagines the secret night activities of that city's spirits. Inspired by the darker side of Brazilian pop culture, the film crosses over genres and techniques. Fantasy, horror and cartoon meet through live-action, 2D animation and 3D VFX.

With production taking place across three continents, the project is truly an international effort. Support comes from Paranoid BR, Birdo and Anvil FX in Brazil with Autour de Minuit contributing in France, and Hornet Films heading post production in the U.S.

To be released fall 2013, Caveirão is the first film from The Master's Voice Project, which aims to develop ghost stories based on urban folklore. In the meantime, Gui will keep his Facebook page updated with behind-the-scenes treats from the project.
