Hornet Directors Headed to Annecy 2014

Five short films from directors at award-winning mixed media production company Hornet Inc. are set to screen at Annecy.

Selections for the 2014 Annecy International Animation Film Festival are underway, and five short films made by directors at award-winning mixed media production company Hornet Inc. are set to screen at the prestigious event. Annecy runs this year from Monday, June 2, through Saturday, June 7.

From the NSFW to the traditional holiday toast, the five animated shorts span genres and a range of techniques. Check them out, below:

The Bear & The Hare -- Yves Geleyn, Elliot Dear

There once was an animal who had never seen Christmas. As autumn winds turn to winter snow, the bear begins his annual retreat into hibernation to sleep his way through the best part of the year. The festive spirit is strong though, and his friend the hare is determined to give him a gift he has never received before -- Christmas.

Marilyn Myller -- Mikey Please

Marilyn maketh. Marilyn taketh awayeth. Marilyn is trying really hard to create something good. For once, her expectation and reality are going to align. It will be epic. It will be tear-jerkingly profound. It will be perfect. Nothing can go wrong.

Sandy -- Joseph Mann

Summer is near and with it comes sun, sea and Sandy. Playful, bright and ever-so-slightly NSFW, Sandy's seaside world was brought to life entirely through the art of stop frame animation.

Oreo Wonderfilled Skier -- Julia Pott

Julia Pott's film for Oreo Canada's Olympic effort is absolutely brimming with her playful, illustrative aesthetic and whimsical charm. While Julia's animation takes cues from the original Wonderfilled campaign, she's created a film with a style and spirit all her own.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared II - Becky & Joe

Following up from their original award-winning Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, the gang are back to discover the meaning of time. Produced by Hornet's friends at Blinkink.
