The National Film Board of Canada has compiled on one DVD, seven short animated films, each created with a different technique. SEVEN TO SEE/SEPT À VOIR! features Martine Chartrand's BLACK SOUL (painting on glass), winner of the Golden Bear for Best Short Film at the 2001 Berlin International Film Festival, A HUNTING LESSON by Jacques Drouin (pinscreen), STOWAWAY by Abi Feijó (sand animation), LONESOME MONSIEUR TURGEON by Jean Crépeau (digital mixed media), THE SONG-CATCHER by Philippe Vaucher (charcoal drawings and computer graphics), ARIA by Pjotr Sapegin (puppet animation) and FROM THE BIG BANG TO TUESDAY MORNING by Claude Cloutier (brush and India ink on paper). As well as giving viewers an excellent overview of creative animation techniques, the DVD features French and English soundtracks, a description of each film, photo galleries and biographies of each director. The DVD can be purchased online at www.nfb.ca/store.
