On October 27, Walt Disney Home Video releases "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride," a direct-to-video animated feature sequel to the 1995 blockbuster theatrical feature, "The Lion King." Disney hopes to achieve similar success to that of the film's predecessor, which has made history as both the number one animated movie and best-selling video of all time. "Simba's Pride" stars many of the same voice talents featured in "The Lion King," including Matthew Broderick (Simba), Nathan Lane (Timon), Robert Guillaume (Rafiki), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) and James Earl Jones (Mufasa), as well as new character voices: Neve Campbell (Simba's daughter, Kiara) and Suzanne Pleshette (Scar's loyal follower, Zira). The 75-minute film was produced by Walt Disney Animation Australia, under the direction of Darrell Rooney and co-director Rob LaDuca. Additional clean-up, in-betweening and ink and paint was done by Walt Disney Animation Canada and Toon City, Inc. The video is available for U.S. $26.99. Also accompanying the video release is a new CD of music, "Return to Pride Rock: Songs Inspired by The Lion King II: Simba's Pride," and a cassette, "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride Read-Along,", both from Walt Disney Records.
