Press Release from HIT Entertainment

16th February 2011: HIT Entertainment, one of the world's leading independent children's entertainment producers and rights-owners,  has today announced the launch of a brand new CGI look Bob the Builder magazine, published by BBC Worldwide. The top selling three-weekly pre-school magazine will be on sale with its new CGI look from today, just in time for half term. This special issue of the magazine, with a fantastic bumper gift, will be available from all major retailers. Every child will get four free tools to play with so they can be just like Bob.

The magazine is packed full of fun activities to keep little ones busy, including matching, sticking, colouring and puzzles. It extends young Bob the Builder fans’ enjoyment of the programme with stories from the new CGI series. Children can visit Bob’s new home town Fixham and have fun with their favourite characters. Plus, there’s an eight page ‘play and learn’ special pull-out with fun maths activities that reflect what readers are learning at school.

The magazine’s move to CGI follows the huge ratings success of the new CGI TV series, Bob the Builder: Ready, Steady, Build!, which airs on Cbeebies. The programme’s average audience share has seen an increase of over 37% since the CGI series first aired.

Katie Price, Senior Director, Global Publishing at HIT Entertainment says, “The brand new CGI Bob the Builder magazine looks fantastic and will no doubt prove popular with fans of the CGI TV series. Since HIT properties Fireman Sam and Angelina Ballerina refreshed to a CGI appearance, magazine sales have increased dramatically, so we are confident the new Bob magazine will enjoy similar success.”

Sara Oldham, Editor of the new-look magazine says, “We’re delighted to be extending our readers’ enjoyment of their favourite programme by bringing Bob the Builder magazine right up-to-date with the CGI series. New stories, fresh pictures and exciting characters have breathed new life into a magazine that has been a preschool top-selling favourite for over 10 years.”

The Bob the Builder magazine from BBC Worldwide is currently the top selling three-weekly pre-school magazine, selling 70k copies on average per issue.
