Actress Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to join TERMINATOR SALVATION, the fourth installment in the franchise, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The Oscar-nominated actress would play a small but pivotal role in the McG-helmed film. Characters in the new film are being kept secret in the origins story of the battle between humans and Skynet. Principal photography began in New Mexico last month.
Warner Bros. and Halcyon are releasing the action film next May.
The addition of Bonham Carter, who was nominated for 1998's THE WINGS OF THE DOVE and is also a five-time Golden Globe nominee, would bring prestige and class to the summer tentpole.
SALVATION wouldn't be the first event-actioner the British actress has starred in. She was Bellatrix Lestrange in Warner Bros.' HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007) and will reprise that role in the franchise's next two films.
