Guru Studio Expands Activity in Asia

Guru Studio appoints sales agent Small Screen Distribution to manage all rights in Asia.

'Justin Time' Toronto, Canada -- Guru Studio has appointed Small Screen Distribution to manage all rights in Asia for all current series, starting with its popular preschool hit Justin Time (52 x 11), signalling a solid expansion for the company into a key new territory.

Small Screen Distribution, headed by Kerry Novick, has been appointed as sales agent for all TV and home entertainment rights in Asia, including Japan, China, India, Korea, and all of Southeast Asia. With over 20 years of experience and one of the most prestigious client lists in the market, Novick will join Guru Studio’s existing network of top global agents including Jetpack (EMEA), Knockout Licensing (US), RTL Licensing (Germany), and Kaynak (Turkey).

Kerry Novick comments, “Justin Time has the perfect mix of educational topics, particularly world history, solid pacing, and high entertainment value that works so well in Asia.  I am honoured and thrilled to have the opportunity to represent this award-winning series in Asia. ”

Novick has already concluded two deals for Justin Time: first, sub-licensing broadcast, digital, licensing and publishing rights of Justin Time to Ciwen Media Group, one of China's leading brand managers and TV distributors. The deal covers China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, for both English and Chinese language rights. And secondly, a broadcast deal with Tiga in Thailand for the first two Seasons of Justin Time.

“We are delighted to be working with such a dynamic partner in this growing market,” adds Mary Bredin, Executive Vice President of Guru Studio. “The fact that Kerry has already signed several new deals shows that Guru creates high-quality programming that works across all cultural borders, further defining us a genuinely global company.”

With over 10 industry Award nods, including one Emmy and six Annie nominations, Justin Time has firmly established itself as a highly successful and coveted show. Currently airing in over 75 countries, a further 13 episodes of the show are in production for a planned delivery in early 2016.
