Guru Studio and Baby Octopus Form Creative Partnership

First project in development is ‘Pepi,’ based on the best-selling books by Laura Ljungkvist.

Toronto -- Guru Studio is entering a new creative partnership with Baby Octopus Productions, brainchild of animation industry veteran, Diana Manson. The first project on the development slate is Pepi, based on the best-selling books by Laura Ljungkvist.

The alliance will bring together two like-minded executives, Frank Falcone, President and Creative Director of Guru Studio, known for developing great character and story-led properties with international hit potential; and Diana Manson, well-established champion of great literature-based shows. Between them, Falcone and Manson have contributed creatively to some of the biggest shows in the industry: Guru has produced its own Justin Time, Nickelodeon/Spinmaster’s Paw Patrol and Mattel’s Ever After High; while Manson’s career credits include Mr. Men, Olivia and Max & Ruby.

“I've long admired Diana's keen ability to develop beautiful and engaging kids content,” Falcone comments. “We're so excited to develop this unique new book- based property with Baby Octopus.”

Pepi is a wonderful property, full of fun and energy, and Guru is the perfect partner to bring this charming character to life for young children around the world,” adds Manson.

Based on the best-selling books, Pepi is a clever new preschool comedy/variety series featuring inventive stories, comedy sketches, running gags, silly songs, bird dances, and stylized visual bridges. The star of it all is a cheeky yet charming cockatoo whose exuberant curiosity leaves no button unpushed, no door unopened, no stone, wheel or corner unturned. Along the way he gives his friends -- and his audience -- a new view of their world, delighting kids while learning about his world.
