Guerilla FX Welcomes John Bair, Vivian Connolly

Guerilla FX continues its expansion with the addition of Creative Director/Effects Supervisor/Director John Bair and Executive Producer Vivian Connolly.

Bair and Connolly come to GFX from Edgeworx (New York, NY), where they worked as a team, and will be concentrating their energies primarily on feature film effects and titles, medium and long format broadcast effects and titles, and broadcast design.

Since joining the Guerilla FX family, Bair and Connolly have begun creating visual effects for DOUBT, John Patrick Shanley's feature; visual effects and titles for the features NEW YORK I LOVE YOU, THE MESSENGER and EARTH 2100, a primetime two-hour ABC special about the state of the planet in the year 2100, for which GFX will be producing one-third of the content.

In addition, Bair, who directed and was Creative Director for THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY has just reprised his role, directing the re-shoot for the new and improved version through GFX

Bair has worked as a Visual Effects/Animation Supervisor and Creative Director on numerous feature film and broadcast productions. Throughout his career, he has been captivated by both the creative arts and new technologies, and years of experience in combining the two have given him diverse perspectives on design and postproduction.

For the last decade he was Creative Director at Edgeworx where he completed myriad feature film projects including the visual effects and main titles for Charlie Kaufman's SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK, main title design and animated sequences for Michel Gondry's BE KIND REWIND and animated sequences for John Cameron Mitchell's SHORTBUS and the visual effects for his HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. In addition, Bair was Creative Director on Youssou Ndour's documentary I BRING WHAT I LOVE, U2 3D and CHICAGO 10; Main Title Designer and/or VFX Supervisor on SLEEP DEALER, CARRIERS, TRUCKER, DIMINISHED CAPACITY, BIRDS OF AMERICA, LIFE IN FLIGHT, GRACE IS GONE, DEDICATION and STEEP; and CG Artist and/or Supervisor on THE QUIET, HERBIE: FULLY LOADED, D.E.B.S. (tunnel sequence) and THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE.

Productions to which Bair has contributed have garnered multiple honors, including Official Selections at the Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, Toronto and Berlin film festivals, two Peabody Awards, a CINE Golden Eagle, a PROMAX/BDA Award, and an International Monitor Award. His animated short, FIRST LIFE, was an Official Selection for the Siggraph 2004 Animation Theater.

Connolly, a former actress turned television and film producer and children's story writer, was Head of Production at Edgeworx Inc. where, for the last two and a half years, she oversaw all production and worked closely with Bair on projects including: SEEMORE'S PLAYHOUSE (APT), THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NY (Bravo), CHICAGO 10 (Brett Morgen, director), THE HILLS promos (MTV), PREHISTORIC MEGASTORMS (History), THE UNIVERSE (History), Peabody winner JUDGMENT DAY (NOVA), FRACTALS: HUNTING THE HIDDEN DIMENSION (NOVA), MARATHON CHALLENGE (NOVA), HISTORY DETECTIVES (PBS), and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE IN THE '90S: POP CULTURE NATION (NBC), among others.

Her resume includes a stint at Sharp Entertainment (New York, NY) where she co-wrote and produced 100 GREATEST RED CARPET MOMENTS. At Eyeboogie, Inc. (New York, NY) Connolly wrote and produced over 800 interstitials, and two one-hour specials for ABC Family (New York, NY): HOLLYWOOD MOMS and HOLLYWOOD COUPLES. As a senior writer and producer for Gordon Elliott's Millbrook Media (New York, NY), she wrote and produced three television series: FOLLOW THAT FOOD (Food Network), THE GENUINE ARTICLE (Fine Living Networks) and DOOR-KNOCK DINNERS (Food Network).
