The Grudge Takes a Bite Out of Shark Tale

Sonys Americanized horror remake of JU-ON, THE GRUDGE, toppled SHARK TALE from the top of the box office chart for the weekend ended Oct. 24, 2004, scaring up a whopping $39.1M. Meanwhile, the DreamWorks 3D-animated smash added another $14M for second place to run its impressive total to nearly $137M. Miramaxs SHALL WE DANCE moved up to third place with $8.5M and $24.4M so far. Universals FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS slipped to fourth with $6.9M and $47.2M. Paramounts TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE marionette madness descended to fifth place with $6.3M and a two-week cume of $22.1M. Buena Vistas LADDER 49 secured the sixth spot with $5.3M and $61.3M. DreamWorks SURVIVING CHRISTMAS debuted coolly at number seven with $4.4M. Foxs TAXI steered its way into the eighth position with $4.1M and a cume of $29.7M. Sony/Revolutions THE FORGOTTEN (with vfx by The Orphanage and SPI) fell into the ninth spot with $3.2M and a total of nearly $62M. Fox Searchlights I HEART HUCKABEES snuck into the 10th position with $2.9M and a cume of $5.8M.
