Greg Thompson New CBLDF Deputy Director

At this weekend's WonderCon convention in San Francisco, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has announced that creator Greg Thompson has been named as the organization's new deputy director.

A nine-year vet of the comics retailing world, Thompson spent four years with Bankston's Used Books/Austin Books, and, most recently, five years running customer service and shipping for Lone Star Comics' mycomicshop.com. In 2004, Thompson established himself in the creative realm as the writer of Hero Camp, published by Image Comics, with artist Robbi Rodriguez and colorist Russ Lowery.

CBLDF exec director Charles Brownstein said, "We're fortunate to welcome Greg aboard at the CBLDF. His experience in both the retail and creative communities makes him a perfect fit for the Fund, where our work safeguards the diversity of comics' interests. So far he's proved himself to be an intelligent, industrious, and ambitious member of our team, and I know, as he moves along, that he'll help us move into even bigger and better places."

"I'm thrilled to be working with the Fund," Thompson said. "The right to free speech is something near and dear to my heart, and to be able to defend that within an industry I truly love is an incredible opportunity. To be able to wake up every morning and go to a job you believe in is a wonderful feeling."

Greg Thompson will be representing the CBLDF at WonderCon at booth 308.
