Gotham Group has picked up the rights to R.L. Stine's IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL... FOREVER, writes The Hollywood Reporter. The GROUNDHOG DAY-like tale finds a 12-year-old repeating the same horrible first day of school over and over again. The Stine book will be published in July.
Gotham plans to tap a writer before pitching the project to studios. Gotham's Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson, Lookout Ent.'s Yvonne Bernard and Gemini Girls Prods.' Beth Elise Hawk are the producers. Parachute Publishing's Jane Stine and Joan Waricha are the exec producers.
