Gorillaz Deliver New 360-Degree Animated Video, ‘Saturnz Barz’

New Virtual Reality video directed by Gorillaz founder Jamie Hewlett sets a record for the highest debut of a VR video in YouTube history.

After a seven-year hiatus, virtual band Gorillaz has returned with a new album and a new 360-degree animated music video for single “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)” from their fourth LP, Humanz.

Gorillaz founder Jamie Hewlett directed the Virtual Reality video, which has now set a record for the highest debut of a VR video in YouTube history, according to a report by Billboard.

The six-minute video -- in which the animated members of the band enter and interact with a haunted house -- involves a singing pizza and a chaotic outer space environment. It currently has upwards of five million views and was viewed more than three million times within its first 48 hours.
