Gordon-Levitt, Caine Hired for Nolan's Inception

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who will play the evil Cobra Commander in Paramount's upcoming G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, is set to join Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION at Warner Bros., per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Nolan also wrote the script, which is being kept secret but is said to be a sci-fi actioner set within "the architecture of the mind." Gordon-Levitt will take over a role that had been looked at by James Franco, but who had to drop out because of scheduling issues.

Michael Caine also confirmed that he will have a small part in the film. "I have a little part in it, yes. Just a tiny part. Chris and I are very good friends so I'll do that little part. I think I'll work about three days. It'll be extraordinary, wait until you see this one. I think if I say another word he's going to kill me!" (via INCONTENTION.com).

Gordon-Levitt's character will be an associate of star Leonardo DiCaprio's character, an executive-type. Marion Cotillard will play DiCaprio's wife and Ellen Page will portray a grad student and DiCaprio's sidekick. Cast is rounded out by Cillian Murphy.

The film is set to be shot this summer and will have a 2010 release. Nolan and Emma Thomas will produce via their WB-based Syncopy Films.
