Goblet of Fire Still Has Box Office Heat

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE continued to lead the box office for the weekend ended Dec. 4, 2005, despite a 63% decline after the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday, racking up another $19.8M. The fourth entry in the hugely successful Warner Bros. franchise (with vfx from Double Negative, Framestore CFC, MPC, ILM, Cinesite, Animal Logic, The Orphanage, BUF and Rising Sun) has a three-week cume of $229.2M.

Paramount's AEON FLUX, the live-action feature starring Charlize Theron, based on Peter Chung's cult animated series, debuted in second place with $12.6M (with vfx from Digital Domain, Hydraulx, The Orphanage and Majesco Sales).

Fox's Johnny Cash biopic, WALK THE LINE, dropped to third place with $9.5M for a three-week cume of $68.2M. Paramount's remake of YOURS, MINE AND OURS followed in the fourth spot with $8.2M and $34.4M. Taking fifth place with $5.6M was New Line's JUST FRIENDS, which has collected $21.1M in two weeks. Sony/Revolution's RENT (with vfx from ILM) slipped to sixth with $4.44M and a two-week cume of $23.7M. Buena Vista's CHICKEN LITTLE was right behind in seventh with $4.4M.Disney's first fully 3D-animated feature has now posted a cume of $124.1M. Occupying the eighth spot was Focus' PRIDE & PREJUDICE, which gathered $4.3M and a cume of $22.3M. Ninth place went to The Weinstein Co.'s DERAILED, with $2.3M and a tally of $32.7M.
