Gnomon Announces Summer Session

Registration for summer term 2006 at Gnomon School of Visual Effects (June 26-Sept. 10) began May 22. There are two new classes for summer: Visual Math for Artists, taught by Saty Raghavachary, is visual intro to mathematical topics that are useful in CG production, and is meant for a non-programmer/non-technical audience. In Vehicles and Hardware Design for Film and Games, students learn the basic design principles necessary to work as conceptual artists in the science fiction genre. This five-week class is taught by Hugo Martin.

There are two Gnomon Certificate Program alumni added to the faculty roster: Kevin Griffith and Alex Cancado. Gnomon continues to offer nine one-week classes each term. Class is held 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour break for lunch. Tuition for one-week classes is $1,625. The schedule for one-week classes in the summer term is listed below. Please be aware that the order of classes is different this term. Also, there is no class scheduled for the week of SIGGRAPH, July 31-Aug. 3.

Meanwhile, Maya Fast Track program begins July 3 and continues through Sept. 8. This intensive, nine-week program, taught by instructors with extensive production experience, is geared toward using Maya as a production tool. Again, there will be no class during the week of SIGGRAPH. Tuition is $9,100. (Includes a $100 registration fee).

In addition, Gnomon has added approximately 2,000 square-feet of new classroom and office space. Lab 5, the new lecture classroom features 20 student stations, a high-res projector and dramatic décor by Brown & Trowbridge.
