Apple has launched a subscription service for its App Store, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new feature allows content producers to charge subscription plans for their apps. The feature will allow magazines and newspapers to offer subscription-based apps. Additionally, game and music providers could provide access to all their iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone content for a monthly fee.

Apple will take a 30% cut of all sales made directly in the App Store, but will take nothing for content providers who lead their customers to the store. The feature is modeled on News Corp.'s The Daily. The iPad news service charges $.99 per week or $39.99 for the whole year.
